Bloodshot recording artists Sarah Shook & The Disarmers will play at our place on Saturday, September 16 (EARLY SHOW: Doors 6/show 7PM). This North Carolina-based band has received some good press these days, including this praise from Louder Than War: “Sarah Shook and the Disarmers are the best thing to emerge from country music in the last ten years and Sidelong is the best album released, in any genre, so far this year.” If you’re unfamiliar, you can check out Sarah’s website and this video of “Nothin’ Feels Right But Don’ Wrong” (and once you’re on YouTube, you can surf around for more).
Suggested donation for this show is $18 adv/$20 DOS per person. As always, all of this donated money goes to the band. To make a reservation, EMAIL REPLY ASAP (include number in your party). These house concerts sometimes max out quickly, so please reply ASAP if you’d like to attend.
Once you’ve replied, we’ll send you an email that will confirm your reservation and provide details about how to pay and the usual info about directions/parking and food/drink.
This will be fun.

Wood House Concerts
PS- The Bottle Rockets will play a house concert at the home of Louis and Betsy Ortmann, the parents of drummer Mark Ortmann, in Festus, MO on Saturday, August 26. This show is a special event celebrating Dr. Lou’s 81st birthday on the weekend of his birthday. He’s excited to finally be hosting a house show and it will be like a Make-A-Wish experience for him. In that spirit, the proceeds are being donated towards Dr. Lou’s medical expenses. No gifts please, but a pot-luck dish or BYOB drinks are welcome.
We still have room for a few more people for the October 6 house concert featuring Tears Of Silver, an indie-rock super-group consisting of Ken Stringfellow (The Posies, Big Star), Jonathan Donahue & Grasshopper (Mercury Rev) and Jesse Chandler (Midlake, Mercury Rev). Tickets for this show are being sold by the band online…follow the instructions on this ticket link.
And these previous house concert performers will return to St. Louis soon…come out and show the love:
Jon Langford (along with Dave Alvin, Christy McWilson & Cindy Lee Berryhill) will play at Off Broadway on Saturday, August 19.
